While Americans Struggle, Failed NY Mayor Adams Finalizes Luxury Cruise Ship Housing For Illegals

New York is in terrible shape, rife with crime, instability, and rising consumer costs.

New Yorkers, like all Americans, are struggling with out of control housing costs. According to a study by The New York Times in March of 2022, rents in the city have risen 33% in the last year, close to double the national average.

Though Adams has complained  about the number of illegal immigrants showing up in the city and saying that they are straining local resources, Adams is making sure illegals are well taken care of.

Adams is in the final stages of negotiations with Norwegian Cruise Line to use one of its luxury cruise ships to house illegals.

Homeless veterans and vulnerable Americans are not a priority for Adams.

The New York Post reports:

Mayor Eric Adams is finalizing a deal with the Norwegian Cruise Line to house migrants on one of its massive cruise ships and dock it at Staten Island’s Homeport, The Post has learned.

Adams wants to lease the luxury liner for at least six months and use it to house and process migrants before they enter the city’s shelter system, a source familiar with the matter said.

The migrants would be allowed to come and go while staying on the ship, the source said.

Preliminary estimates show the plan will be “cheaper” than erecting another tent city similar to the one the city plans to open in the Bronx at the Orchard Beach parking lot, the source said.

The tent city, now under construction, is expected to cost $15 million a month to operate, The Post exclusively reported last week.

It’s unclear whether Adams has already struck a deal to use the Homeport, a former naval station on the eastern shore of Staten Island between the St. George Ferry Terminal and the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge.

New Yorkers have not been pleased with Adams’ approach to housing illegals thus far, including the construction of a tent city in the Bronx.

Last week, the Post shared, “The first of the emergency shelter facilities will consist of five tents set up in a parking lot at Orchard Beach in The Bronx. It will have enough beds to house up to 1,000 adults, who officials say will stay there for one to four days as they do initial assessments of their health and welfare before placing them into the city’s shelter system.”
