“Eric Adams Makes Clear He Will Continue to Fail” – Bernard Kerik on Failed NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ Criminal Justice Summit

“Eric Adams Makes Clear He Will Continue to Fail” – Bernard Kerik on Failed NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ Criminal Justice Summit

Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik’s latest article at Newsmax addresses the rampant crime in New York and the failed leadership of NY Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Last weekend, Adams hosted a tw0-day Criminal Justice Summit to discuss the crime wave.  The summit was woefully short on actual solutions.

Earlier in October, as Election Day approaches for Hochul, the two held a press conference addressing crime on the MTA.

We must address both the perception and reality of safety, and the expanded partnership we are announcing today with @GovKathyHochul will do just that, while building off the successes of our Subway Safety Plan. https://t.co/PA4VdGHobL

The New York Post reports, “Gov. Hochul and Mayor Adams said Saturday they will flood the city’s crime-ravaged  subway system with more cops and ramp up the installation of additional surveillance cameras. This, they said, would translate into about 10,000 extra hours of cops patrolling subways and that New Yorkers would soon see officers covering subway platforms on extended tours daily in at least 300 stations during peak hours.”

Neither Adams nor Hochul addressed the disastrous“Less is More” act that was signed into law by Hochul in 2021 which gives more leniency to parolees and removes reasons to put parolees back behind bars.

Hochul embarrassed herself in Tuesday night’s debate when opponent Lee Zeldin brought up the controversial law saying she didn’t know why it’s “so important” to lock up criminals.

Kerik writes:

Last weekend’s Criminal Justice Summit, put together by New York City Mayor Eric Adams makes clear he will continue to fail the city that he swore to protect.

Prior to Adam’s election, this writer tried to be as optimistic as possible, even though I knew he was never a rising star in the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

However, he did work for former-Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and me, when I was police commissioner, when New York witnessed the biggest reduction in violent crime and murder in its history.

Adams had been a member of the NYPD prior to Giuliani taking over in 1994 when we were averaging more than 2000 murders per year, and were considered America’s murder capital.

He worked through the broken windows theory of policing, and watched the Compstat System, created by former New York City police commissioner Bill Bratton and former Gotham deputy police commissioner Jack Maple, hold members of the department accountable — to do their jobs.

Evidently, he either wasn’t paying attention, or his inability to ignore radical left-wing policies is now responsible for returning New York to the cesspool it was in the 1980s and early 1990s.
