Conservatives Blast McConnell’s Upcoming Sellout to Democrats on Omnibus Bill—$ 1.65 TRILLION IN NEW SPENDING

Conservatives Blast McConnell’s Upcoming Sellout to Democrats on Omnibus Bill—$ 1.65 TRILLION IN NEW SPENDING

The Republican Party theoretically sits in a position of strength on government funding thanks to winning control of the House last month. But one man stands in the way of exercising this new-found leverage: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The logical move by Republicans is to unite on a short-term funding bill for a few months. This gives the Republican House next year an opportunity to rein in the Biden Regime’s profligate spending which has driven up inflation and the deficit.

McConnell, though, is determined to hand Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer a major win. He took to the Senate floor Wednesday to push for “a truly bipartisan full-year bill” instead of a reasonable short-term funding bill:

“If a truly bipartisan full-year bill without poison pills is ready for final Senate passage by late next week, then I’ll support it—for our armed forces particularly,” McConnell said “Otherwise, we’ll be passing a short-term continuing resolution into the new year.”

The “truly bipartisan bill” McConnell has in mind is a bloated omnibus bill based on a recently negotiated framework by the Uniparty. This outline calls for spending $1.65 trillion in taxpayer money over next year, driving more inflation and debt.

Establishment politicians like McConnell love omnibus bills because they are thousands of pages long and filled with billions of dollars for their states and corporate donors. They know no ordinary person will read such legislation and the corruption will go unpunished.

Conservatives lashed out at this unsurprising betrayal. Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene rightfully pointed the finger at McConnell for the Democrats’ likely victory and demanded he reverse course. She tweeted:

“Mitch McConnell is the reason Democrats are on the verge of passing a huge TRILLION-dollar Democrat controlled Omnibus spending bill in the late hours of this lame duck session. McConnell should only agree to a short-term CR [continuing resolution] into ’23 to allow the Republican controlled House to make the appropriations bills next year.”

Texas Republican Chip Roy also got in on the act, calling for McConnell to actually respect the American people and stop the bill.

“I’m looking at Mitch McConnell when I say this: DO YOUR JOB, Leader McConnell. Do your job and follow the wishes of the American people who gave a majority to Republicans in the House of Representatives.”

“And let’s STOP this bill.”

Even Kevin McCarthy objected to McConnell’s submission to the radical left. He told News’s Laura Ingraham that Republicans are “wrong” if they want to cut a year -end deal with the Democrats.

Ingraham then asked whether this included McConnell. McCarthy replied in the affirmative:

“Yes,” McCarthy said. “Why would you want to work on anything if we have the gavel inside Congress?”

The answer is because McConnell would rather work with Democrats and deliver Biden’s agenda than help conservatives. His pettiness toward the right proved most glaring when he cut off Trump-backed candidates during the midterms.

McConnell, meanwhile, worked to deliver wins for the Democrats on infrastructure, gun control, the debt ceiling, and “hate crime” legislation. He even let Schumer and Joe Manchin trick him into helping pass Biden’s Green New Deal. The Republican “leader” proved so impotent that Democrats had the most successful Congress since the 1950s.

Conservatives in Congress are fighting but will need help from the public to stop McConnell’s latest scheme. Patriots should call Republican offices nationwide and perhaps rally if they want any hope of the GOP controlling the purse strings next year.
