Virgin Atlantic tempts British Airways Executive Club Members with Upgraded Status Match

Virgin Atlantic has capitalised on the recent BA Tier point year change controversy to attract customers with a tempting status match offer.

Until Valentine’s Day, Virgin Atlantic is extending an upgraded status match to members of the British Airways Executive Club.

To take advantage of this offer, Executive Club members simply need a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account and must book a Premium or Upper Class flight with Virgin Atlantic. Whether it’s a cash ticket or a redemption flight, all qualify for this generous offer.

Interested members can apply by filling out a form, with the caveat that those who have previously undergone a status match with Virgin are ineligible.

Qualifying members will see their status upgraded 72 hours prior to their flight, and the upgraded status will be valid for 12 months.

While Virgin’s status benefits were previously less enticing for frequent business class travellers, their recent inclusion in SkyTeam makes this offer particularly appealing.

Gold members enjoy Upper-Class check-in and private security at London Heathrow, access to exclusive Clubhouses and the Revivals Lounge, 60% more Virgin Points on bookings, and SkyTeam Elite+ benefits.

Silver members receive 30% more Virgin Points, free extra checked luggage, Premium check-in, priority boarding, and other perks, including SkyTeam Elite recognition.

Another incentive for obtaining Virgin status is the opportunity to earn vouchers through the Virgin Atlantic Mastercard. Currently, there’s a special offer for double points until April 14, 2024, or £5,000 spend, whichever comes first, for those who sign up for a Reward+ credit card before March 4, 2024.

Spending £10,000 or more on card purchases within 12 months on the Virgin Rewards+ card earns a Companion Reward Ticket or an upgrade voucher. Having Virgin status enhances the benefits of the companion voucher, with Silver or Gold members able to book without using points for the companion reward seat.

Additionally, a new bonus point offer is also available as travellers can earn bonus points on round-trip routes taken until June 30, 2024, with 2,000 Virgin Points for Economy, 5,000 for Premium, and 10,000 for Upper class trips.
