Nigel Farage has said he cannot think of any government in recent times which has done more to damage British food production.
Speaking to GB News Nigel Farage said: “At Downing Street this morning a gathering, apparently, of all the great and good from British farming and Rishi Sunak was there, giving a speech, talking about food production.
“I can’t think of any government in modern times there has done more to stop British food production but today apparently, that’s all changed.
“I’m told many in the crowd did stand to attention because the band were playing the national anthem. Sunak chose not too which is an odd choice.
“But what about the content of what he had to say? ‘We’re on your side, we’re with you. And we’re going to appoint a new commissioner for tenant farming.’
“What we’re going to do is bureaucratise farming even more and that’s really, really going to help you. And we’re going to launch a new food security index to measure how much of the fruit and veg that we consume is produced in this country.
“Well, it is just pure electioneering and as I say, it runs completely contrary to everything that we tried to do in Boris Johnson’s time, but I guess that’s politics.”
