The judge performing the duties of Special Master in the Trump case with the FBI has a very checkered past, why was he ever selected for this role by the Trump team?
The New York Post wrote about Judge Raymond Dearie when he was announced as special master in the case involving the FBI’s unnecessary, unprecedented and unlawful raid on President Trump’s iconic property, Mar-a-Lago:
Hon. Raymond Dearie was announced as special master in the case by US District Judge Aileen Cannon, court documents showed. Dearie was one of two possible third-party legal experts suggested to Cannon by Trump’s team. He was chosen after the Department of Justice agreed he was an acceptable candidate.
Dearie, 78, a Rockville Centre, New York native, had served as the top judge of Brooklyn’s federal court from 1986 to 2011, before taking on a reduced caseload and serving as a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge, according to his official biography.
What wasn’t shared is that Judge Dearie was a FISA court judge who signed off on the fraudulent Carter Page FISA Warrant. The left used this to criticize the pick.
I see possible perceived conflict if Dearie reviews a doc containing intel from a FISA he approved. It won’t be readily apparent from the doc but he could recognize the subject matter. Unsure if risk assessment would flag this yet, if at all. Neutral/objective challenge by Trump?

President Trump indicated that it was his attorneys who made the choice in an interview with Sean Hannity on FOX News:
“Well, the lawyers had a lot of — I didn’t know any of the people involved. But, you know, if you look at it, he was stung badly by that because the FBI lied to him, the people, and the people of the Justice Department lied to him. So if you think about it, yes, he approved it and he got stung very, very badly by that,” Trump said. “So, you know, we will see what happens. He’s a respected man.”
The fact that Dearie signed off on the fraudulent Carter Page FISA Warrant should have been more concerning to the Trump team. Knowing this, why was Dearie picked?
In addition, Judge Dearie no doubt worked with some very corrupt actors in New York when he was a judge there. One of the actors was creepy former DOJ attorney Andrew Weissmann who led the Mueller sham. Weissmann is in love with Judge Dearie which is not a good sign for the Trump team.
Gotta love Judge- now Special Master- Dearie. https://t.co/25chb2CNsU

Judge Dearie was selected as the special master in the case involving the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago and has been a pain for the Trump side since his appointment. Just this week, Dearie scolded Trump’s attorneys:
“Where’s the beef? I need some beef,” Dearie told attorneys during a telephone status hearing.
The judge said there was a “certain incongruity” to lawyers claiming that at least one document was both personal to Trump and covered by executive privilege.
“Unless I’m wrong, and I’ve been wrong before, there’s a certain incongruity there,” Dearie said, USA Today reported. “We’re going to have to deal with that sooner rather than later.”
Dearie also scolded Trump lawyers and DOJ attorneys regarding a dispute over a document — an unsigned June 2017 letter from Trump’s personal law firm at the time to former special counsel Robert Mueller during his investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election — the former president says is shielded by a privilege for legal materials, Bloomberg said.
The question that remains unanswered is who suggested to President Trump to pick Judge Dearie in the first place?
