Mississippi State Football Coach Mike Leach in Critical Condition After Suffering Massive Heart Attack

Mike Leach, head football coach at Mississippi State University, collapsed after suffering a massive heart attack on Sunday in Starkville and was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, according to ESPN.

“Leach suffered what was called Sunday a “personal health issue” that occurred at home. According to a report by the Clarion Ledger, Leach had a massive heart attack,” the outlet reported.

The university gave an update on Monday morning, saying Leach is still in critical condition after the incident yesterday.

“Mississippi State University Head Football Coach Mike Leach remains in critical condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson,” the university announced.

“Mike’s family is with him and appreciates the overwhelming expressions of love and support for the coach, but also requests that their family’s privacy be respected at this time.”

“That is the extent of information that MSU has available regarding Coach Leach’s condition, and the university will make no other comment at this time. MSU will issue additional information via social media when it becomes available,” the announcement concluded.

On Monday evening, “RIP Coach Leach” topped Twitter sports trends after the former coach at Kansas State University, Bill Snyder, tweeted that Leach had passed away. Multiple sources, however, indicate that he is, in fact, alive.

To be clear, Mike Leach is still alive as of right now. Rumors going around Twitter about him dying are 100% false at this moment.

He’s alive, and the RIP Coach Leach and RIP Mike Leach trends are based on inaccurate information.

Bill Snyder should delete his tweet about Mike Leach dying ASAP. No excuse to leave it up.

Another unconfirmed report by an insider on the Mississippi State Board indicated that Leach is now in hospice care.

“I wish I had better news, but I’m told UMMC has transitioned into comfort care measures for Coach Mike Leach. It’s essentially hospice care at this point.  I’m told he’s been largely if not totally nonresponsive since the cardiac event yesterday morning,” according to the post.

Friends and supporters are offering prayers and support for Mike Leach.
