Republican Rep. Nancy Mace is praising Joe Biden for promising to pardon people with federal convictions for possession of marijuana.
Mace gushed over Biden’s plan during an interview on Fox Business Network’s show Kennedy.
“What do you think about president Biden today pardoning thousands of federal marijuana offenders?” the host asked Mace.
“Well, I want to give credit where credit is due. I don’t always agree with the Biden administration, I’ve been very vocal about that, but this is a step in the right direction. The president wants to pardon people for very simple possession of nonviolent cannabis offenders at the federal level,” Mace said. “And he wants to encourage our governors across the country to do the same, and I think that’s a great first step.”
Mace continued, “I applaud the president. I’m going to give credit where credit is due and agree with him on this position.”

Biden issued a statement on Thursday saying, “I am announcing a pardon of all prior Federal offenses of simple possession of marijuana. I have directed the Attorney General to develop an administrative process for the issuance of certificates of pardon to eligible individuals. There are thousands of people who have prior Federal convictions for marijuana possession, who may be denied employment, housing, or educational opportunities as a result. My action will help relieve the collateral consequences arising from these convictions.”
In July, Mace taped a protest sign to her blazer to join the Democrats in condemning her own state’s pro-life laws.

Mace wore the jacket to go vote for the Right to Contraception Act, to codify the right to birth control, which passed 228-195.

Mace previously voted to keep Rep. Liz Cheney in her position in the Republican Party and was one of nine members of the GOP to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress.
She also condemned Trump following the protest on January 6.
