NEW: Germany Likely to Keep Two Nuclear Power Plants on This Winter to Prevent Blackouts

Germany will likely keep two nuclear power plants “on the grid in the first quarter” of 2023 to prevent blackouts this winter.

Earlier this month it was reported Germany planned to keep two of its three remaining nuclear plants ‘on standby.’

“It remains very improbable that we will have crisis situations and extreme scenarios,” German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said on September 5. “I have to do everything necessary to fully guarantee security of provision.”

Fast-forward a couple weeks…

On Tuesday Habeck told Der Spiegel magazine that Germany will likely use its two nuclear plants to avert blackouts this winter.

“We are already in a place where the stress test shows: It may be necessary to use nuclear power plants for grid security,” Robert Habeck said.

An extension of nuclear power in Germany is becoming more likely, Economy Minister Robert Habeck told Der Spiegel magazine.

In 2018 during his speech to the UN General Assembly President Donald Trump lodged a warning to Germany about their country’s reliance on Russian energy.

The German delegation laughed on camera at the remarks.

Now Germany’s economy is tanking and Russia is in complete control of its energy as winter approaches.

On Monday Russia’s Nord Stream 2 Pipeline from Russia to Germany lost all pressure from 300 to 7 bars.

The cause is unknown.

German citizens are facing a very cold winter ahead.

Things were looking so bleak for Germany that they had to fire up the old power plants so its citizens don’t freeze to death this winter.
